Xmas 2008

This year, we were/are parents to be on Xmas. Last year was our first Xmas as The Jones and the Xmas previous was our first Xmas together and we were engaged!

Anyways...this year for Xmas, we woke up around 8 or so; opened our gifts from each other and my family, while listening to Xmas music, sitting by the fireplace on tv and drinking hot cocoa.

I got Simon; a game, windows xp (since he lost his registration key), a Python scripting book, choco-covered cherries, the original Robin Hood dvd and the disney version, some xmas boxers, hat, scarf and gloves.

He got me: black and white film that I asked for, a wireless remote for our camera, 3 cute dresses, black boots, a photo book he made,

From my family we got: choco-covered strawberries and 3 mini cheesecakes, a hand-print keepsake picture frame, a teddy bear, some candy, scrabble up words, some clothes, toothbrush sanitizers and a smoothie maker.

After opening gifts, we ate some of the choco-covered strawberries and played Scrabble up words; and tied. Then we went driving around to find a place open to get some food. Found Panda Express and got some chinese to ; came back, eat while watching Surviving Xmas. Then I talked to my family and he with his wishing them all Merry Christmas. Then I think I took a nap for a bit, I was exhausated. Had some nachos for dinner and are going to watch Meet Me in St. Louis while eating some popcorn (another tradition we started last year when he got it for me :))

Too bad the weather here was icky out. It rained all night last night and some day, otherwise we would have gone for a walk. I'm sure we'll do that tomorrow, along with cleaning, grocery shopping and finally mailing out our Xmas cards and xmas packages for our families. (We're such slackers)

Merry Christmas everyone!!! Hope everyone had a wonderful xmas!! (Too bad we didn't get the greatest gift of all for Xmas this year...hoping and praying the lil guy arrives very soon!!!)

LA

We are moving to LA, as Simon got a job in Santa Monica~~ I'm excited about being in a bigger city than Santa Maria, I dislike the smog and traffic but the restaurant choices and shopping is an added bonus and I have 2 friends that live in LA and one in Fresno so I'm closer to them!!! :D yay!!

Time for an update

Wow it seems as though I have neglected this blog! Sorry!! So now it's time for an update!!

For Easter my dad & sister flew out! Unfortunately mom couldn't make it due to work. But we all had a great time. Seeing BelAir, Santa Monica, Santa Barbara and a few sites around us. I took portraits of my sis and I think they turned out pretty good. My dad painted us paintings for our dining room too.

April 6, we added to our family! We got a puppy, a yorkshire terrier. He was almost 12 weeks old. His name is Otis, aka Ottie. He's tooo cute but a lil terror!

Currently we're in the waiting game. Just a waiting. Waiting to hear back that Simon has a job in London. this is what we're hoping and wanting to happen. We want and need a change.

Speaking of change. I cut off my hair! But I love it! So I'm ready for a change of address too!

Mexico

Well we left our place at 7pm Thursday night to drive to LA. The drive was smooth and we got to our LA hotel in 3 hours! biggrin.gif Our hotel was pretty cool and all modern-like. We went to bed and then woke up at 7am to drive to the airport long term parking lot. Got to LAX at about 8, checked in, security etc. I was starving so got some potato chips and water for breakfast. There wasn't much food down by the gate to get and of course our gate was the last one!

Finally got to board and flew to Puerto Vallarta. We got some airplane food, some chicken dish. Landed and had to go through customs. Then got our baggage and had to go through the rest of customs. Then had to find our transportation to our airport. Found our transportation and had to share a cab with other couples. We finally got to our hotel and I was surprised it was right off the main street, not like further back like the other hotels the cab took the other couples too. The street was a busy one too.

So checked in, and they couldn't find us! WHAT?!? I was getting mad and worried. Finally they found us and put us in the wrong name, grrrrr! At least the bellboy brought us a welcome fruit drink. It was pineapple and papaya or something, it was yummy! Then we finally went to our room! We were on the second floor. We had a nice big king sized bed, that was has HARD as a ROCK. I was sooo bummed. I HATE hard/firm beds and so does DH!!! So that was a bummer. Then we went to check out the pool and beach. We then wanted to go get some dinner, but the restaurant was closed. This was the other thing we disliked about our hotel: that every restaurant, except one which was the one we always ate at was the buffet, but at every other restaurant you needed dinner reservations. We tried to make reservations but they were for 9pm! That's too late for us to eat dinner. we're not used to that late, and too the time difference was 2 hours ahead so we were hungry earlier. Their times for meals are crazy. breakfast 7-12. lunch 1-5 and dinner 7-10.So we decided to go find the restaurant the guy at the airport mentioned. So we walked through the city to find an ATM first to get some pesos. Finally found one and then searched for the restaurant. Finally found it. It was so busy with Americans which was quite funny. We ordered a margarita and chicken fajitas. They made use guacamole in front of us too. It was all soooo yummy!!! Walked back to our hotel and got to watch the sunset on the beach. It was gorgeous. Went night swimming in the warm pool! Then went back to our room, took a shower and watched some tv and ordered some room service, some ice cream. But oh my it was the grossiest ice cream we ever ate! tongue.gif (The room service menu was limited and weird too)

Next day, March 1, our 1 year anniversary. Slept in, went to breakfast and then went to our couple's massage. Our massage was amazing!!!!!! It's a tradition we get a couple's massage for our anniversary. We got a nice long 80 minute one too. I wish I could have one everyday! Then we went to the beach and took some pictures and then we went to lunch. I got a Miami Vice and then a strawberry daiquiri. We enjoyed the salad/fruit bar most of all. Went back to our room and then got ready to go lay out by the pool. Got another Miami Vice. Enjoyed the sun and the pool. Then went up to shower and get ready for our anniversary dinner. I LOVE getting dressed up for dinner, DH bought me a new cute pink dress and heels that I was anxious to wear! got dolled up and went to the restaurant. The hotel book in the room lied!!!! It said this beach restaurant didn't need reservations but we get there are they did!!!!! BUt the guy was so nice and gave us a table! It was really cold though sitting next to the ocean in a sleeveless dress! The brought us a Tequila Sunset too. The rolls were good, but our fish was a lil dry, but I loved the veggies and mashed potatoes! Then went back up to our room and cuddled and watched a movie. Gave DH his photobook and poem I wrote him and card. He knew that I loved him and stuff. He was soooo happy. He gave me his card. It was sooo sweet. We had a good one year anniversary!

Next day, March 2, breakfast buffet. Then we went into town to get an ATM and do some souvenior shopping. The first ATM was down. THe second ATM was down. And then after walking about 5 miles the 3rd ATM was down too. We had no pesos to get food or go shopping with. So that was disappointing. Then walked the 5 miles back and I saw an ATM that we missed and it worked!!! Go figure huh? Then got to do some shopping, bought 2 of this sculpture figurines. 1 is of a couple hugging/embracing. And the other is a mom, dad and baby. I hope that will be us soon! Walked back to the hotel, got some lunch and another Miami Vice and then went to the beach. Simon wanted to play in the ocean and I'm kinda scared of it (sharks, sting rays, jelly fish, etc) and it was a lil cold, so I let him play while I lounged in the hammock. Sooooo nice!

Then left and went to the pool. Went back to the room cause I was getting too hot and feeling like I was getting burned. Took a shower and laid in bed watching some tv. Went to get some sunset shots and then went to the buffet dinner. Went back to room and just relaxed again, we were so tired. Then we got hungry at like 10 and ordered some Dominos. lol. SInce the room service menu stunk. We ate a whole pizza! We were pigs but it was so good! It's interesting there with their pizza they bring hot sauce for it! So I tried some with it. Pretty good but spicy! Stayed up watching another movie and I fell asleep. I was awoken at 4:30 am by some INSANELY loud bassing/music. I thought it was a car driving past and that it'd stop in a few but it didn't! Our window wasn't opened either and I could hear the lyrics and everything. Covering my head with a pillow didn't help. I called the front desk and complained and then it finally stopped!! Thank goodness. I cannot stand loud bassing when I'm trying to sleep. It makes me a grouch!....so tired but can't sleep and feeling sooo hungry/nauseous. So I drank a spirte and ate some candy and took some Tums. I don't think I feel back asleep till 7:30am! I felt bad for DH cause I was a lil bit of a grouch that morning.

Next day, breakfast, packed and got ready to check out. we checked out and waited and waited for our ride to the airport. Finally they came. Got to the airport and waited in line. They searched your bags by hand there and open everything up. It's kinda embarassing, cause everyone in line could see your unmentionables, etc! And of course when our suitcase opened my sexy lingerie spilled everywhere. It was embarassing. Got checked in and got some food and went through security and then to our gate. DH lost the camera bag. I was sooooo worried it was gone forever. Our expensive camera, flash attachments and lenses and my ipod were in there, and all the pictures would have been gone forever. Went running through the airport and found it, thank goodness!! Got on the plane and a cute lil toddler was seated next to us, but they moved so the dad, mom and baby could all be together, so DH and I got 3 seats to ourselves. But I was sad, I enjoyed watching the lil girl. Got some airplane food and landed! We were glad to be back to the US. I had to pee soooooooooo bad, but there were no bathrooms through customs and baggage claim!! I had to wait till we got out of customs and got our baggage and got out of the customs exit. Ran to get on the parking lot shuttle, thank goodness we made it! (last time we waited for it for 30 minutes) We had dinner reservations at PF Changs since we don't have one near us. Thankfully we got back to our car, paid for the parking and drove to the restaurant. We were early and there was no wait so we didn't even need our reservations Eating PF Changs so soooo yummy. (I can't wait to have left overs for lunch!!) Drove the 3 hours back home, I entertained DH by singing the whole time. We were so glad to be home that we crashed immediately!

So that's basically the over view of our trip to Mexico! We had a great time, a wonderful anniversary but we missed home!
